Keith Richards: “Human Cockroach” Rides On!

Keith Richards, Rolling Stones Voodoo Loungue ...

Keith Richards has been photographed in many flamboyant costumes as one half of the notorious Glimmer Twins, so playing a corsair hunting the mythical Fountain of Youth should be second nature to him. In his second appearance in the Pirates of the Caribbean as Captain Teague, Richards expects to be on the receiving end of frequent jibes about his “human cockroach” status as one of rock’s survivors.

“You can’t be vegetarian and straight and play rock ‘n’ roll,” Richards once famously said, and boy did he exemplify that one.
Keith is, for many, THE Rolling Stone, and it is his trademark honkin’ riffs that make a Stones song instantly recognizable. The baddest of rock ‘n’ roll’s bad boys, Keith has mellowed somewhat in recent years. Approaching 68 years old, he leaves a catalog of mayhem in his wake. Aside from the well-publicized drug and legal issues, he’s been in some wild relationships and even fell from a tree a few years ago, suffering injuries that required cranial surgery.

Keith’s autobiographical book, “Life”, is currently selling well, in both hardback and paperback. It has received great reviews from the newspapers and the New York Times went so far as to say it is “intense, elemental, utterly distinctive and achingly, emotionally direct.” Just like the sounds that issue from Keith’s guitar, right?

While you’re waiting for the Rolling Stones to come into your life how about checking out one of America’s natural born sons on his latest amazing tour?! That’s right, you guessed it; Bob Seger tickets are the talk of 2011, as the old man of the heartlands hits the rustbelt and knocks ‘em dead. Bob Seger really is one of the most talented of rock’s elder statesmen, and at almost 66 years old this might be one of the last chances to get to see him perform live! If you’re tired of waiting for the Stones to come rollin’ along, how about a Bob Seger concert ticket to kill the time? And speaking of being “tired of waiting”, have you heard the latest on the Kinks reunion? The brothers Ray and Dave Davies, plus Mick Avory, are planning to hit the road on a much awaited Kinks tour! Imagine how awesome that would be? This past few years we’ve seen The Who play the Super Bowl halftime show, and the Rolling Stones constantly rumored to be planning a tour. Who knows, maybe the Kinks tour will run right into the Rolling Stones schedule and it’ll be pure bliss for those of us who love the wrinkly rock reunions!

And as an afternote – word on the Stones is that they they will be on tour in 2012! You heard it here first…or not as the case may be – but the boys WILL tour!
